It’s the ultimate grab-and-go food. A whole lot of hearty food in the palm of your hand. The American Burger started taking the world by storm in the early 1900s as the Hamburger. Not because there was any ham in it, but because it originated in Hamburg in the 1800s. In the UK, we’ve really always thought of it as the Beefburger, of course. But whatever you call it, you’re sure to call it delicious after you’ve demolished one via the Just Eat app from a takeaway near you.

Classic Hamburger
The world-famous Hamburger is as flexible as it is desirable. The Classic Hamburger is actually a beefburger (the beef is there’s no ham) and consists of a freshly-ground, 100% beef patty, cooked medium in a normal soft bun with a slight glazing on top. Then layered with iceberg lettuce, fresh tomato, onions, pickles and house dressing. Then mustard, mayo or ketchup to taste. Just say ‘Cheese’, and you’ve got yourself a Cheeseburger. Traditionally, the slice of meltable cheese is laid on top of the sizzling-hot patty just before serving to get that gooey texture (yeah, you know the one). Other meltable cheeses include cheddar, mozzarella and blue cheese – all will melt your taste buds. Extra bacon makes a Bacon ‘n’ Cheese Burger – another must-try burger combo.
Dirty Burger
The hamburger continues to be reinvented in differing (and delicious) forms around the world. From the Dirty Burger, which is heaped with naughtiness (the one where the little ‘devil-you’ on your shoulder says: “Don’t order it!”) to the Skinny Burger, where you think about asking for a salad instead of a bun (and the little ‘angel-you’ on your other shoulder says: ‘Order it! Order it!). Either way, Just Eat is the answer. The Teriyaki Burger is a popular Japanese spin-off with pan-fried beef, sweet Teriyaki sauce and tangy Japanese mayo. A Hawaiian Burger consists of marinated chicken breast prepared with fresh pineapple, bacon, cheese, crisp lettuce, sweet mayo and BBQ sauce.
